Every fourth Saturday of the month historic Mesa comes alive to the sound of rumbling engines.

Crusin’ on Main keeps growing in popularity, largely due to Hot Rod Planet Promotion’s (HRPP) efforts. The Main St. cruise was dead in the water for a number of years, no one would take the helm and work with the city when it came to the logistics of the event. Wanting to see a resurgence in the Mesa car scene,  HRPP set about to revitalize the cruise, and since it has been an overwhelming success.

Starting at approximately 6:00 PM the main parking lot starts to fill, and the people come in waves. The event goes strong till the late hours, many times past 10:00PM. Once all the “normal” traffic starts to die down the streets are filled with classic, modified, and muscle cars. Typically a large crowd gathers on the sidewalk to watch the action as it rolls by in a constant ever changing scene that looks like something out American Graffiti.

Street vendors set up camp, and offer a variety of goods ranging from hot-dogs, t-shirts, car parts, and even Hot Wheels drag racing. Music is provided by a DJ who plays all the best songs from several generations, and as you walk or cruise down main you can visit and eat at several of the local businesses. The atmosphere is family friendly and well kept with frequent involvement with the local police department.

If you are looking for a fantastic alternative to the “same old” park and sit car show, then you should head down to the Cruise on Main as you will not be dissapointed.
